Studio Landscapes and Plein Air

In the summer I spend much of my time participating in outdoor plein air events with Plein Air Washington Association.

Outdoor painting from life is the most challenging of all art forms for me. It has to be so condensing of the overwhelming subject matter, and yet so clearly definitive of its concept. I find myself only remotely able to achieve what I want and yet the experience is so very satisfying!

I am an active member of Oil Painters of America, International Guild of Realism, Peninsula Art League, Plein Air Washington, and Landscape Painters of America.

Prints of all my landscapes are available at http://dianne-l-gardner.artistwebsites.com/

Lopez Hay

This little painting won 3rd place in the San Juan Perservation Trust/ Plein Air Washington Show 2010. I think Lopez Island of the San Juans is one of my favorite places to visit. I love the misty atmosphere of the lush farmland. Many of my sheep paintings were taken from this island as well.

Behind the Barns

Our plein air trip to Nisqually Wildlife Refuge in March was still breezy and cold but we were granted some scattered sun showers! This is a sample of the lovely marshlands that is the home of thousands of Canadian Geese, puffins and many other fowls.
